Sometimes it seems life would be simpler as a robot. Just run a program to go to the gym regularly and plug yourself in for a nice power charge every night. Unfortunately for us human types robotically doing the same fitness routine over and over again is a recipe for disaster. Too much of the same old same old can cause burnout, injury and make us feel like a grumpy robots with dying batteries.
Unlike robots, human beings crave variety. To keep our physical lives zesty we need to try new things, give things we’re already doing a twist and shake up our routine on the regular. The trick is to find the balance of novelty and routine that keeps your fancy tickled. Too much routine = the sad robot dance. Not enough = the chaos shuffle. It can feel like a little extra effort, but staying a happy human instead of bee-boop, bee-booping bot is totally worth it.
